IBGE releases microdata of National Address File for Statistical Purposes (CNEFE) from 2022 Population Census
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released today, May 21, the microdata of the National Address File for Statistical Purposes (CNEFE).
The release of the CNEFE´s microdata was anticipated, in an effort to provide the society, as soon as possible, with information to assist the disaster situation faced by Rio Grande do Sul.

The IBGE recovering the planning for a sustainable eco-development
The severity of the climate events that have been affecting the national territory requires to plan the sustainable socioeconomic eco-development.
Aiming at the state and municipalities affected by the flood, the IBGE is assisting the actions developed by the federal, state and municipal administrations, especially in the cities that had most of their territories hit by floods.
It requires to re-position the IBGE´s Work Plan for 2024 by creating a task force of expert technicians and officers to subsidize the recovery of the national planning, especially in the territory of Rio Grande do Sul, which will require to join efforts to face the results of this disaster.
As the major surveying institution in Brazil, equipped with the most precise and comprehensive files, maps and data sets that allow to respond to the requirements of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the IBGE decided to anticipate the release of the microdata of the National Address File for Statistical Purposes (CNEFE) to Tuesday, May 21, at 10 AM.
The address data of Rio Grande do Sul and each of the more than 106 million addresses collected by the 2022 Population Census will be released with complete addressing attributes, according to the pattern used by the IBGE, which includes street, number and modifier, complement, locality, CEP, type of unit visited, type of building and names of establishments, among others. The data dictionary with the characterization of the content and a document with guidelines on using these anticipated data will be released as well.
This action is coupled with other actions that the IBGE has been developing in Rio Grande do Sul, like granting vehicles to rescue and transport flood victims, appointing officers for humanitarian aid, in which the IBGE team helps to transport rescued persons in boats in flooded areas in Porto Alegre, and helping to distribute donations and potable water with other volunteers. Nearly 8 thousand liters were delivered by IBGE officers in IBGE vehicles to hospitals, shelters, associations and solidary kitchens in Porto Alegre.
Another action was the launch of SINGED Lab, the IBGE innovation laboratory, comprising a multidisciplinary team of officers from different areas, aiming at sharing technical, statistical, geoscientific and data information produced by the IBGE and centralized in the National System of Geosciences, Statistics and Data (SINGED).
Founded in 1936, the IBGE was fundamental to establish the territorial bases that allowed Brazil to build a modern industrial urban society, planned on consolidated technical bases.
In this scenario of acceleration of the devastating effects of the climate changes, it is required to overcome the sectoral disintegration and fragmentation of the full set of information. By means of open data, experiments of technical innovation laboratories and nearly ninety years of technical expertise, the IBGE volunteers to provide subsidies to the Brazilian State to mitigate and even overcome the harsh climate effects on the consolidation and development of the network of applied public policies.
