National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.37% in March

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) showed a change of 0.37% in March 2026, 0.14 percentage points higher than in February 2026 (0.23%). The cumulative figure for the last 12 months was 6.73%, a result close to that recorded in the twelve preceding months (6.71%). The index for March 2025 was 0.35%.
The national cost of construction, per square meter, increased from R$ 1,925.08 in February to R$ 1,932.27 in March, with R$ 1,089.78 related to materials and R$ 842.49 to labor force.
The materials share showed a change of 0.43%, rising both in relation to February (0.36%) and to March of last year (0.35%), by 0.07 and 0.08 percentage points respectively.
Labor force, with a rate of 0.31%, and two observed increses, showed an increase of 0.25 percentage points when compared to February (0.06%), while compared to March 2025 (0.36%), there was a decrease of 0.05 percentage points.
The first quarter of the year closed at: 1.06% (materials) and 3.60% (labor force). The cumulative figures over twelve months were 4.45% (materials) and 9.89% (labor force), respectively.
Northeast Region registers highest monthly change in March
The Northeast Region, with increases in all states, and particularly Paraíba and Bahia, influenced by rises in professional categories, had the highest regional change in March, 0.95%. The other Major Regions presented the following results: 0.16% (North), 0.14% (Southeast), 0.03% (South), and 0.25% (Central-West).
The state of Bahia registered the highest change in March, with 2.16%, followed by Paraíba (1.83%), due to collective agreements signed in professional categories.
The remainder is temporarily in Portuguese.
