The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by the IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, recorded a change of 0.50% in April, 0.27 percentage points above the March´s rate (0.23%) and 0.04 percentage points above the rate of April 2014 (0.46%). The cumulative index between January and April stayed at 1.12%. The result of the last 12 months stayed at 5.30%, slight above the rate of 5.26% recorded in the immediately previous 12 months. The national cost of construction per square meter, which in March was R$ 918.95, changed to R$ 923.58 in April, being R$ 502.33 relative to materials and R$ 421.25 to labor force.

The share relative to materials registered a change of 0.43%, 0.24 percentage points higher than that in the previous month (0.19%). Labor force changed 0.59%, increasing 0.31 percentage points in relation to March (0.28%). The cumulative indexes in the year were 1.00% (materials) and 1.28% (labor force), while the cumulative indexes in 12 months were 3.05% (materials) and 8.08% (labor force), respectively.

Northeast Region shows highest change

By changing 1.05%, the Northeast Region registered the highest rise in April. The other figures were: 0.14% (North), 0.33% (Southeast), 0.40% (South) and 0.01% (Central-West).

The regional costs, per square meter, were:   R$ 934.02 (North); R$ 867.05 (Northeast), R$ 960.19 (Southeast); R$ 940.83 (South) and R$ 931.82 (Central-West).

Bahia tops the states

Due to the pressure from salary increases following a collective work agreement, Bahia registered the highest monthly change: 3.31%.

These results are monthly estimated by the IBGE through a partnership with CAIXA – Caixa Econômica Federal, based on SINAPI – National System of Survey of Costs and Indexes of Civil Construction.

SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs.
