National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.65% in December and closes the year at 6.20%

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), calculated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, changed by 0.65% in December, with acceleration of 0.45 percentage points over the November rate (0.20%). As a result, 2014 closed at 6.20%. The cumulative results consider the exemption of payroll of companies in the civil construction sector, according to Law 12,844, of July 19, 2013. Materials, with a change of 0.49%, accelerated 0.56 percentage points in comparison with the figure recorded in the previous month (-0.07%). Workforce recorded 0.84%, with increase of 0.32 percentage points versus the November figure (0.52%).
The national cost by square meter changed from R$ 907.43 (November) to R$ 913.32 (December), being R$ 497.37 relative to expenditure on material and R$ 415.95 on workforce.
Results in 2014 point to a change of 4.90% in materials. The cumulative figure relative to workforce recorded increase of 7.74%. In 2013, expenditure on materials rose 4.48% and workforce got 3.94% cheaper, due to exemption of payroll in that year. As a result, expenditure on materials reached R$ 497.37 in December 2014, whereas workforce closed the year at R$ 415.95
Southeast Region closes 2014 with highest cumulative result (6.61%)
In December, the Southeast Region presented the biggest acceleration in cost (0.96%) and the highest cumulative result (6.61%). The other changes were: 5.88% (North); 5.62% (Northeast); 6.11% (South) and 6.60% (Central West.
As for construction costs, the Major Regions presented the following figures by square meter: R$ 922.27 (North); R$ 851.61 (Northeast); R$ 954.31 (Southeast); R$ 927.22 (South) and R$ 927.03 (Central West).
In December, Minas Gerais recorded the biggest increase (3.75%)
Due to the pressure exerted by salary rises resulting from collective agreement, Minas Gerais, among the states, recorded the highest monthly rate, 3.75%. Rio Grande do Norte and Piauí, for the same reason, appear in the second and third positions in the monnth, respectively 3.58% and 3.23%.
These results are calculated monthly by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA - Caixa Econômica Federal, according to SINAPI - National System of Costs Survey and Indexes of Construction. SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs. |
