The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed 0.27% in October, standing very close to the September´s rate (0.26%). Considering the period between January and October this year, the result was 5.14%. As to the last 12 months, the rate stayed at 6.03%, slightly below the rate of 6.07% registered in the previous 12 months. The index registered in October 2014 was 0.30%. The national cost of construction, per square meter, which in September closed at R$ 957.63, changed to R$ 960.17 in October, of which R$ 513.41 were relative to materials and R$ 446.76 to labor force.

The share relative to materials registered a change of 0.18%, dropping 0.14 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.32%). Labor force changed 0.37% and stood 0.17 percentage points above the September´s rate (0.20%). The cumulative figures in the year were 3.25% (material) and 7.41% (labor force) and, in 12 months, they were 3.68% (material) and 8.87% (labor force), respectively.

North Region records the highest change

Having changed 2.42%, the North Region recorded the highest rise in October. The other figures were: 0.22% (Northeast), -0.02% (Southeast), -0.09% (South) and 0.05% (Central-West).

The regional costs, per square meter, were:   R$ 987.54 (North); R$ 886.89 (Northeast); R$ 1,000.06 (Southeast); R$ 994.14 (South) and R$ 972.68 (Central-West).

Pará is the state with highest change

Due to the pressure from salary increases following a collective work agreement, Pará registered the highest monthly change: 4.87%, followed by the state of Roraima (1.83%), also impacted by a salary adjustment.

SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs.
