The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will hold regional launches of the 1st National Census of the Population Experiencing Homelessness on April 27, 28, and 30. This initiative marks the first nationwide statistical survey focused exclusively on this segment of the population.
Developed by the IBGE in partnership with social institutions and movements, the Census establishes a historical milestone in the production of official information in the country, adopting its own methodology, built in articulation with institutional partners and representatives of civil society. The aim is to strengthen the production and dissemination of socially relevant statistical knowledge, reaffirming the Institute's commitment to Brazilian society.
The regional launches will begin on April 27 at 5 pm in Belém (PA), at the Pedro Vieira Institute. On April 28, at 9 am, the event will be held in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), at the Integrated Service Center for People Experiencing Homelessness (CIPOP-RUA/RJ). The schedule will be concluded in São Paulo (SP), on April 30th, at 1 PM, at Sesc Santo Amaro.
All three events will be broadcast live via IBGE Digital. In-person participation requires prior registration, which should be done via email at eventos@ibge.gov.br, indicating the city of interest.
