IBGE participates in the 1st International Conquista SDG Meeting and discusses 2030 Agenda indicators

Vitória da Conquista, in the southwestern part of Bahia, will host a wide-ranging discussion about sustainable development during the 1st International Conquista SDG Meeting and the 1st Meeting of the Bahia–Minas Network of SDG Municipalities. The event will gather leaders from Brazil and from abroad, experts and managers directly engaged in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals within the UN 2023 Agenda. 

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will participate in the meeting, being represented by Denise Kronemberger, a participant in panel discussion 4, which will focus on the institute's contribution to SDG monitoring indicators. According to Denise, the experience of IBGE is a fundamental asset to support municipal action and monitoring of the 2030 Agenda. 

“The IBGE's national and international experience producing SDG indicators for monitoring the 2030 Agenda includes lessons learned and that can be adapted at municipal level. In addition, the IBGE can provide municipal data for the production of local SDG indicators," she explains. 

The meeting will be held on April 9 and 10, 2026, from 8 am to 6 pm at Camillo de Jesus Lima Cultural Center, in Vitória da Conquista (BA), having as a central theme “Governance, Cooperation and Implementation of the 2030 Agenda”.

The meeting aims at the articulation between governments, the private sector, universities and international agencies to strengthen partnerships and transform global commitments into concrete actions in the territories. The program includes topics such as urban planning, development funding and local strategies to meet targets of the 2030 Agenda. 

With the participation of a wide variety of institutions, the event will gather representatives of international bodies, public and private institutions and academic institutions, including UN-Habitat Brazil, ECLAC/UN, UN Global Compact - Brazil Network, National University of Cordoba (Argentina), IBGE, CAIXA, National Association of Mayors (FNP), Sustainable Cities Programs, SICOOB, Brazil and Bahia SDG Hub, Federation of Industries of the State of Bahia (FIEB), besides local governments considered references in the implementation of policies for sustainable development.
