IBGE promotes series of seminars on institutional partnerships to celebrate its 90th anniversary

Among the actions planned to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), is the holding of seminars aimed at recognizing the various partners that have marked the IBGE's nine decades of activity — both in the public and private sectors.
The seminars will have a national version and will also be held in each Federation Unit, under the responsibility of the IBGE State Superintendencies. With the theme “My Partner, My Brazil, Our IBGE,” the format of the seminars seeks to bring together, recognize and value the institutional partners that, over time, have contributed to the production, strengthening and dissemination of the Brazilian statistical and geoscientific information.
According to the IBGE's Institutional Relations Manager, Claudio Barbosa, the initiative reinforces the strategic role of partnerships in the Institute's operations: “Partnerships are fundamental to expanding the reach and quality of information produced by the IBGE. The thematic seminar and its replication in the states strengthen the institutional dialogue and allow for more efficient joint actions to be built, connected to local realities. This initiative reinforces the importance of collaborative work so that the IBGE continues to advance in its mission of producing and disseminating essential data for Brazil.”
The seminars will start in May 2026, with the possibility of extending over a year. The meeting agenda will be announced soon. All content resulting from the meetings will be systematized and transformed into a commemorative book, in addition to serving as a historical document and dissemination material, contributing to the consolidation of the institutional memory at national and state level.
For the State Superintendent of the IBGE in São Paulo, Francisco Garrido Barcia, holding the seminar is a recognition of the importance of partnerships throughout the Institute's history: “Building a 90-year history of institutional success is not an easy task and depends on many efforts, assertive actions and many other factors. A very wise institutional decision, which has always accompanied the IBGE, was to act with transparency and objectivity, always supported by institutional articulations and partnerships. This is how we gained all our credibility, at a national or international level, and which has a direct connection with institutional partnerships. Therefore, when celebrating this historic milestone of 90 years, it is fair and deserved to hold a Thematic Seminar on Partnerships, highlighting this important pillar of support and basis for the IBGE's success, especially in fulfilling its institutional mission.”
The expectation is that the seminars will enrich debates, strengthen institutional ties and expand dialogue between the IBGE and its various interlocutors, reaffirming the role of partnerships as a fundamental element for the development of the Institute's actions.
