Second group of civil servants approved in CPNU starts Integration Program at the IBGE

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) received, on Wednesday (Feb 04), new civil servants approved in the first edition of the Unified National Public Examination (CPNU) and recently appointed and sworn in, after the second call of the selection process. All over Brazil, 26 IBGE state superintendencies received additional staffing, with about 230 new servants. In Rio de Janeiro, 106 people participated in the first of the three scheduled days of integration and information activities in the New Civil Servant Integration Program, organized by the Human Resources Division (CRH). One hundred of these civil servants will be stationed at the national structure of the IBGE and six, at the IBGE State Superintendency.
On their arrival at Casa Brasil IBGE, located downtown Rio de Janeiro, for the first day of active service, the civil servants received their welcome kits. The opening speech was delivered by the president of the IBGE, Márcio Pochmann, who spoke about the capillarity of the Institute all over Brazil, this "national institution headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, but also present in 27 superintendencies, facilities located in all the states and in the Federal District, with hundreds of branches all over the country.” “Welcome you all. We hope you’ll feel at home, a home that is committed and serves the Brazilian society. We are very honored to see you engaged in the CPNU, this difficult and competitive test. You are here to join efforts and together we will make the IBGE an institution that is at the service of Brazil to make it even greater and better," said Pochmann, in a video message.
The Human Resources Department then informed the participants about the schedule of PINS for the coming days. "You will learn how the IBGE is organized, the survey it conducts and information about your working life at the Institute," said Bruno Malheiros, HR coordinator.
The vice-president and executive director of the IBGE, Flávia Vinhaes, mentioned the happiness felt in receiving new employees: "I hope you are so happy to join the IBGE as we are welcoming you. It is a unique moment. You will bring new life into the IBGE and its process.”
José Daniel Castro, coordinator general of the Center for Information Documentation and Dissemination (CDDI) introduced his team and the Social Communication Division (CCS) staff, highlighting the launch of the campaign "Meu Brasil, Nosso IBGE (My Brazil, Our IBGE)", which marks the opening of the Institute's 90th anniversary celebration events.
There were also presentations about the activities carried out by the Directorate of Geosciences, with Maria do Carmo Dias Bruno; the Directorate of Surveys, with Gustavo Junger da Silva; the Directorate of Information Technology, with Marcos Vinicius Ferreira Mazoni; and the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), Jorge Abrahão de Castro. The new civil servants had an overview of important census operations with activities estimated for 2026, such as the 12th Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture, with Fernando Souza Damasco; the Census of the Homeless Population, with Marta de Oliveira Antunes; and the National Survey of Health, with Maria Lucia Vieira and Monica Marli de Souza.
At the age of 23, Alexandre Zanela is back to the IBGE as a Technician in Geographic and Statistical Information, a career position, afterbeing part of the temporary staff. He will be stationed at Parada de Lucas, at the service of the Ramos branch. "I knew some of the IBGE and its work, mainly the Directorate of Geosciences, but working at the branch is something new. My expectations are the best," said the Law student.
Also a technician, Luana dos Santos, age 26, said she was "enjoying learning about all the areas": "I had no idea the IBGE scope of action was so wide. I have a degree in Mathematics and have heard of ENCE, but still don't know much. I hope I can contribute to this institution."
With a degree in Languages, the analyst Augusto Valetim will help boost the information dissemination team, by translating IBGE materials, news and releases from Portuguese into English. He considers the PINS sessions organinzed by HR as "very interesting". " I was an admirer of the IBGE, from outside. Now, being part of the it, I think it's fascinating. I want to learn about all the potential of the Institute."
