The IBGE and the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen bilateral cooperation in official statistics, education and research.
The agreement makes reference to the Reinvigorated Action Plan for the Implementation of the Brazil–Indonesia Strategic Partnership (2023–2026), signed on October 9, 2023, in Jakarta.
The signing was carried out by the President of the IBGE, Marcio Pochmann, and the Chief Statistician of Indonesia, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti. The cooperation also aims to strengthen ties between ENCE and the Statistics Polytechnic School, focusing on joint projects, courses and exchange of experts.
The initiative reinforces the role of the IBGE in the presidency of the BRICS National Statistical Offices in 2025. “The IBGE’s cooperation with the Indonesian National Statistics Institute also aims to strengthen joint actions between the National School of Statistical Sciences (Ence) and the Statistics Polytechnic School, both linked to the two offices. Therefore, it is possible to carry out joint research projects, courses and exchange of technicians, researchers and teachers between the two countries. Another achievement within the scope of BRICS, which is led by the IBGE among the National Statistical Offices in 2025, stated Marcio Pochmann.
