In Cape Verde, IBGE participates in the Statistical Conference of the CPLP

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) participated in the X Statistical Conference of the Portuguese-Speaking Countries Community (CPLP), followed by the Meeting of Heads of CPLP´s National Statistical Offices, on December 16-19, in the city of Praia, capital of Cape Verde.

With the presence of the heads of the National Statistical Offices of ten CPLP countries, the conference discussed the use of information and communication technologies and artificial intelligence in the production of statistics of quality. Represented by its President, Marcio Pochmann, the IBGE presented the unprecedented Brazilian experience in the contruction of the National System of Geosciences, Statistics and Data (SINGED), as well as the major guidelines of the IBGE´s Integrated Work Plan for the year of 2025.

“For the next year, the IBGE will focus on the Brazilian leadership in the Statistical Offices of the extended BRICS and Mercosur countries, as well as on the effort to carry out the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Pará," stated Pochmann.

In Cape Verde, the IBGE counted with the important contribution of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations, with the work developed by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC), detailed in a meeting with Alexandre Henrique Scultori de Azevedo Silva, the Brazilian Ambassador in Cape Verde.
